LEGO Celebrates 80th Anniversary with Pixar-Style Animated History
Though that sweet LEGO set commemorating Shaun of the Dead was turned away from becoming a reality, fans of the great building block toy can look forward to LEGO: The Piece of Resistance and animated feature film coming in February 2014, but in the meantime, LEGO has a cool film you can watch right now that recounts the history of the classic childhood favorite toy which spans generations. The company has just released an awesome 12-minute animated short film which, from the perspective of Ole’s grandson and current owner, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, chronicles the trials and tribulations of their founder Ole Kirk Christiansen and his son Godtfred encountered as they created one of the most iconic toys ever. See below!
Thanks to Design Taxi (via Movies.com) for finding this LEGO Story short in its entirety for our viewing.
It’s not clear who worked on this film for LEGO, but it’s an impressive piece of work. Meanwhile, LEGO: The Piece of Resistance is still on the way following Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt), an ordinary, law-abiding, Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for the most extraordinary MasterBuilder. He’s drafted into a fellowship of strangers on a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together. Will Arnett and Channing Tatum are on board to voice LEGO Batman and Superman respectively, and we’ll keep you posted as more information on the Warner Bros animated film directed by Phil Lord & Chris Miller arrives. Sound good?
