Berlin 2013: BAFTA Rising Star Nominee Alicia Vikander Joins Ewan McGregor In ‘Son Of a Gun’ Cast
Up-and-coming Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites and Jacek Koman also join Julius Avery’s crime thriller set in Australia.
BAFTA Rising star nominee Alicia Vikander, up-and-coming Australian actorBrenton Thwaitesand AFI-nominated Jacek Koman have joined Ewan McGregorin Julius Avery’s crime thriller Son of a Gun.

Billed as a visceral heist thriller from Avery's own script, the film centers on a complex relationship between Australia’s public enemy number one (McGregor) and his young protégé (Thwaites).
Timothy White(Two Hands) produces through Southern Light Films with Janelle Landersof WBMC (Wasted on the Young) co-producing.
Aaron L. Gilbert of Media House Capital serves as executive producer, along with John Collee, Bryce Menzies, Michael Spicciaand Aidan O’Bryan.
U.K.-based banner Altitude Film Sales has international sales duties for the film.
Hopscotch Entertainment One has inked a deal for Australian and New Zealand rights, with UTA Independent Film Group repping the producers in the sale of North American rights.
Media House Capital is providing finance with production investment from Screen Australia, Screen NSW and ScreenWest.
The project is due to begin shooting later this month in Perth and Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and Melbourne.
Swedish actress Vikander joins fresh from playing opposite Keira Knightleyand Jude Law in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina. Thwaites recently completed production on Disney’s Maleficetwith Angelina Jolie and Koman arrives with a long list of film credits and has just completed a role in Jane Campion’s upcoming series Top of the Lake.

Screen Australia chief executive Ruth Harleydescribed Son of a Gun as "an inherently Australian story, which is set to deliver stylish big-screen entertainment for both the local and international market."
